As an appetizer, a shattering revelation: their names are not really, not just Florence Pothier and Alexandrine Gachon. On the occasion of the meeting with these very special partners of La Reine Capricieuse, we explain why. You will see that, as in the case of our rare honey, with them everything is a question of origin.<\/p>


<\/p>\n

Can you tell us about your background, how you met and when you decided to work together?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In March 2011, we were introduced by a mutual friend. We weren't friends ourselves at first, but as time went by, we became inseparable. The first year of our professional association, we saw each other a few times a week. Little by little, we created a decoration brand, offering rugs, cushions, quilts, ceramics... just things we loved.<\/span><\/p>\n

It must be said that this meeting between us happened at a very particular time in our respective lives. One of us was leaving a salaried job and the other, who had already set up two companies, was very keen to partner with someone new. Our brand immediately had this double name (Gachon Pothier) because we wanted to evoke the atmosphere of a country house; with our "old grandmother's quilts". The choice of our grandfathers' surnames was essential to stay in this very old France tone. Our parents did not understand and it very quickly became a subject of joke between the two of us! This atmosphere of old French houses was less obvious to associate with a line of jewelry, but we kept our name anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n

The evolution from decoration to jewelry was a happy accident. To complement our sales without a store, we started a jewelry line, it was more accessible than large decorative objects. It just so happened that one of our first customers worked at Maje. It resulted in two years of work for Maje, supplying 180 stores! The start was very strong! It was not planned but we played the game to finance the decoration line, even if creating a collection was not exactly obvious at the beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is, however, a coherence in this passage from one to the other: our choices in terms of decoration had an ethnic tone, which came, of course, from our travels. From Turkey, for example, we had also kept the taste for these grigris jewelry that we bring back from vacations, with which we have a very emotional bond. They went very well with the textiles that we imported, they were fun, colorful accessories, which themselves included textiles, in a universe where color played a preponderant role.<\/span><\/p>


<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you research your stones? How do you source them?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally, our stones come from our travels: Thailand, T\u00fcrkiye\u2026 and now from a whole <\/span>network of salons. We have some that come from the United States, like the turquoise ones which are very <\/span>important to us, but also from India, the Philippines\u2026 We need less of ourselves <\/span>move to find them only at the beginning \u2013 and we miss it a lot! Ideally, we would like <\/span>really travel more.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our dream right now is to free up time to go see some <\/span>raw materials fairs abroad: in the Philippines, in the United States... With this objective, we <\/span>We are in the process of taking a separate workshop from the shop, to gain a little freedom of <\/span>movement. Because since 2014, in our premises in the Marais, we have been working all day long on <\/span>stringing beads, in front of our customers and the people of the neighborhood. We are part of the characters of the <\/span>local folklore!<\/span><\/p>\n

We are artisans, in the patient sense of the word. We took our time to create our <\/span>business. We are more of a quiet force than furious business women!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Tell us about your encounter with La Reine Capricieuse\u2026 what attracted you to this new cosmetic product?<\/strong><\/p>

Initially, the fact that Alexander is a long-time friend of another long-time friend. When\u00a0<\/span>we heard about his journey after the health crisis, his move to the mountains,\u00a0<\/span>his discovery of beekeeping, which turned into a passion, we found this story\u00a0<\/span>wonderful. And this journey made us think about our own, our values: our taste for products\u00a0<\/span>quality, work on a human scale, the concern to control each component, completely\u00a0<\/span>the opposite of the approach which consists of manufacturing in China while giving oneself a clear conscience by\u00a0<\/span>elsewhere\u2026 All this made us want to contribute to his adventure with a helping hand. The cream\u00a0<\/span>of The Capricious Queen is now integrated into our shelves, and in its own way, it is a jewel!\u00a0<\/span>Capricious Queen, she is our greatest whim!<\/span><\/p>

The presence of the cream in our shop appeals to our customers. We are not, far from it\u00a0<\/span>must, specialists in dermatology, but the habit of knowing ourselves to be extremely demanding inspires\u00a0<\/span>trust. And we have very good feedback!<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

We produce and harvest a rare honey from sedentary black bees which is one of the key ingredients of our formula. For which of its qualities do you appreciate honey?<\/strong><\/p>

Of course we love honey! Each of us has a husband who cooks divinely, honey goes well with our taste for good things. Above all, it is a precious material, entirely derived from nature alone, without human intervention. For us, the uncompromising bias on quality and provenance is fundamental. We also made the choice to go less quickly and to give work to people in Paris.<\/span><\/p>

For us, cream is morning and night, and be careful, no one is allowed to touch it! We use it like caviar, to the point of both of us buying cosmetics for our guys at the same time, just to be sure they won't be tempted to try it. Both of us, and obviously without consulting each other, spontaneously stopped using serum, because cream does everything, even around the eyes. It's really not necessary to use a lot. It would be silly to say that since we've been using it we've looked ten years younger, but a difference is really visible.
