Gala, for The Capricious Queen

Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi is the muse of The Capricious Queen

She is the muse of La Reine Capricieuse, this young brand created and developed by her friend the actor Alexandre Styker, in the heart of the Vosges Natural Park, based on rare honey from sedentary black bees.

Actress and director Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi encourages us to rethink beauty beyond the aesthetic sphere: beauty is above all an energy, which radiates from the inside of a sensitive being and resonates in a singular way in the world. For her, everything is a question of harmony…

GALA: What attracted you to La Reine Capricieuse?
VALERIA BRUNI-TEDESCHI: First of all, the fact that it is a totally ecological brand. In my daily life, I increasingly seek to use only products that respect the skin and nature. Then, I appreciate the slightly "greasy" texture of the creams, I like honey. Finally, the name, light, carefree, literary, poetic and, above all, it reminds me of Les Caprices de Marianne, by Alfred de Musset...

Why “carefree”?
Because it's all me! The only times when I take care of myself, when I take the time to make myself pretty, are when I'm carefree. As soon as I'm too busy or I have worries, I no longer take care of myself, I'm no longer in the pleasure of making myself beautiful.

Are you still a big consumer of cosmetics?
Yes, I am always looking for the right day cream, night cream, and body cream too. I need my skin to be nourished and hydrated.

So you have a beauty routine?
Yes, in the evening, I remove my makeup in a hot bath, to enjoy the steam, besides, I love the hammam, I dream of having one at home! Then, I moisturize my face with La Reine Capricieuse, the body and hair with Huile Prodigieuse by Nuxe. And I add a nourishing cream from Avène (TriXera) on the body. When I wake up, I clean my face with micellar water and apply La Reine Capricieuse. To finish, I put on Esthederm total sunscreen. Plus, it smells good!

“My mother passed on this idea of naturalness to me”

Are you sensitive to odors?
Very. That's why I like Nuxe, La Reine Capricieuse or Esthederm, they have a natural smell. I have a real problem with perfumed creams, it bothers me.

You said you follow your mother’s beauty advice scrupulously. What did she pass on to you?
My mother never wears makeup, except for an occasion, so she passed on to me this idea of naturalness, of non-maquillage. Like her, if I go out in the evening, I apply an Erborian BB cream, mascara and an Apivita lipstick that I also use as blush. And like her, I have a golden rule: always clean my face and remove my makeup before going to bed, always moisturize it in the morning. And no sun! Or else spread protection and wear a hat on my head. The last thing she passed on to me is not to go through surgery. Maybe one day I will succumb to it but until then, I follow her advice.

Do you pass this advice on to your daughter?
Not at all. My daughter could talk to you about beauty for hours! She is flirtatious, she has thousands of rituals and does her makeup like a pro, the complete opposite of me! She is so beautiful, maybe when you are so spoiled by nature, you take better care of yourself!

For me, beauty is light, radiance.

What is your vision of beauty?
For me, beauty is light, radiance, openness, gaze, charisma, power. It is more an attitude towards life. Inner beauty necessarily reflects on the outside.

Makeup: a self-affirmation or a weapon of seduction?
For me, it's more about self-confidence. When I wear makeup, I feel more confident, and protected too.

Do you have a favorite perfume?
I don't like perfumes, only oils scented with plants, like orange blossom, for example. And I especially like my natural smell, why hide it?

Who are your beauty icons?
My mother [Marisa Borini, editor’s note] and my sister [Carla Bruni], obviously!
