Hair as a manifesto: Christophe-Nicolas Biot's free vision
There are some personalities who go against the grain, guided not by urgency but by accuracy. Christophe-Nicolas Biot is one of those who have chosen to listen to the material before transforming it, convinced that beauty is born from a respectful dialogue between gesture, time and life.
Hairdresser, colorist, concept creator, and visionary in hair care, he quickly established himself as a pioneer of a plant-based and conscious approach to hair. Trained to the highest standards, he developed a refined, precise, and deeply considered aesthetic, where every gesture is meaningful and every result is expressed without artifice. His work goes beyond technique: he cultivates an intimate relationship with living things, tirelessly exploring new ways to combine performance, naturalness, and sensory experience.
At the helm of houses conceived as true experiential spaces, Christophe-Nicolas Biot champions a beauty that seeks not to seduce but to endure. This rare philosophy, founded on respect for life, mastery of technique, and attention to detail, resonates naturally with the world of La Reine Capricieuse, where luxury, nature, and science converge to enhance the skin and body.
Always seeking harmony between innovation and tradition, he transforms each treatment into a ritual where patience, rigor and knowledge of living things come together to offer authentic, sovereign and profoundly lasting beauty.
You were a pioneer in a plant-based and conscious approach to hair.
What led you to this very particular philosophy?
“From the very beginning of my career in hairdressing, using plant-based products has always been a given. At the time, it was completely out of fashion: no one talked about organic products, plant-based hair color, or environmental awareness. Yet, I was convinced of one thing: plants possessed immense power, a true strength for coloring and conditioning, even for women who weren't naturally drawn to this type of approach.
My interest in plants stems from a deep desire to move towards healthier, more respectful ways of living, both for hair and for people. This philosophy has also accompanied my own life path: I have gradually opened myself up to a way of living closer to nature.
I am not opposed to conventional thinking; it is an integral part of our world and remains indispensable. But I firmly believe that the more the natural world becomes richer and more advanced, the more the conventional world draws inspiration from it, aligns itself with it, and evolves. The two feed off each other. Today, this dialogue between science and nature is essential.“
You use La Reine Capricieuse skincare products daily.
How does their philosophy, “authentic and sovereign beauty”, resonate with your own vision of skincare, and what do you appreciate most about these formulas?
“What I truly appreciate about La Reine Capricieuse skincare is its almost sensorial lightness. When you apply it, you feel nourished from within, as if your skin is regaining its original, childlike quality. It's never greasy, yet incredibly rich and effective.
You feel their benefits immediately: a genuine sensation of inner nourishment, comfort, and well-being. There's something very true about these formulas. They get straight to the point. I strongly believe in this idea: you don't need dozens of products, but a few perfectly targeted treatments.
La Reine Capricieuse perfectly meets the skin's fundamental needs. Three facial products, and that's all you need. I keep them in all my living spaces because they embody a holistic, coherent, almost instinctive approach to skincare.“
In your homes, the customer experience is central.
How important are textures, gestures and senses in the creation of an exceptional treatment, whether for hair or cosmetics?
“The skincare experience is above all a subtle interplay between the product, its texture, and the application technique. One never exists without the other. Whether we're talking about hair care, facial treatments, or body massage, everything hinges on the precision of the application and the rightness of the product.
Textures should complement the movement, support the hand, and extend the intention. In my salons, I pay particular attention to this harmony: light products, never heavy, that respect both the hair and the skin.
It is this coherence between sensory experience, effectiveness and expertise that makes it possible to create an exceptional treatment — a moment that is at once technical, intuitive and deeply restorative.“
